Day 1: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Kasbah Amridil – Valley of Roses – Dades Valley – Todra Gorges
Your desert exploration begins with pickup in Ouarzazate. First, discover the iconic Ait Ben Haddou, a centuries-old fortified village that has starred in numerous films. Wander through its clay-brick alleys and learn about its fascinating history.
Continue to Skoura oasis to visit the well-preserved Kasbah Amridil, then journey along the scenic “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs.” Pass through the fragrant Valley of Roses before reaching the stunning rock formations of Dades Valley. Spend the night in Todra Gorge, surrounded by towering cliffs.
Day 2: Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Rissani – Merzouga Desert
After breakfast, explore the breathtaking Todra Gorges, where narrow canyon walls rise dramatically overhead. Travel through the Ziz Valley oasis, stopping to see ancient underground irrigation systems. Visit Erfoud’s famous fossil workshops and explore the historic town of Rissani, birthplace of Morocco’s royal dynasty.
Arrive at Erg Chebbi dunes in time for a sunset camel ride to your desert camp. Enjoy traditional Berber hospitality with dinner around the campfire and a night in comfortable nomad tents
Day 3: Visit Merzouga Desert
Spend the day discovering Merzouga’s hidden treasures. Visit local oases and the fascinating Khamlia village, home to Morocco’s Gnawa musicians. Explore abandoned mines and meet nomadic families to learn about their desert lifestyle. Return to your camp with time to relax, try sandboarding, or simply admire the ever-changing colors of the dunes.
Day 4: Merzouga – Rissani – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate
Wake early for an unforgettable sunrise over the dunes before beginning your return journey. Pass through Rissani’s lively markets, then follow the scenic Draa Valley route with its endless palm groves and crumbling kasbahs. Stop for lunch in Agdez before crossing the Anti-Atlas mountains back to Ouarzazate, arriving by late afternoon with memories to last a lifetime.
